Dee Why Beach Personal Trainer Zanna takes us through an Outdoor Flow Yoga Session!

Yoga holds the power to transform our minds as much as it does our bodies. Below are some of the mental / physical benefits of yoga. Check out our top 6 reasons why we love adding it into our workout programs and why we practise it weekly!

♡1. Mindfullness

Did you know it takes 7 breaths to quieten one thought? Yoga is the perfect way to clear your mind and calm your senses. It involves concentration on the breath and body, which makes it a great way to soothe a person’s mind and relieve worries.

♡2. Mindful Eating

Practising yoga can actually help promote mindful eating. This is a practice where one pays attention to the food they are eating and make mindful choices about what’s good for their body. Studies have found that due to the breathing techniques followed during the practice of yoga, it strengthens the mind-body connection and helps you deal with emotions that fuel stress eating.

♡3. Reduces Stress, Anxiety and Depression

Do you always seem stressed and tense? Do you feel as if you’re carrying the entire world on your shoulders? We love clearing our thoughts with yoga as it is a great way to de stress and unwind through the combination of yoga poses and breathing.

♡4. Increases Happiness

Ever noticed how strong, centered and happy you feel after a yoga session? It turns out it’s not all in your head. Research shows that the simple act of living in the moment boosts moods. On average the human mind spends most of their time in the future or past. Performing yoga daily helps you to come back to living in the now.

♡5. Increases Flexibility

The practice of yoga helps the body gently regain its flexibility by stretching out the muscles of various areas without causing any harm to them. The best part about yoga is that as you keep performing it, you will see that your flexibility greatly improves.

♡6. Increases Energy

Do you feel completely drained by end of the day? A few minutes of yoga everyday provides the much-needed fill up that boosts our energy and keeps us fresh. So the next time your head’s feeling foggy, consider ditching the energy drink or coffee and opting for some time on the mat instead. A 10-minute practice is all you need to charge up your batteries, in the middle of a hectic day.

And remember, yoga is a continuous process. So keep practicing! The deeper you go into your yoga practice, the more profound will be its benefits.

Happy Monday! x
