27 Aug Happy Hormones – What you need to know
Hormones have a huge effect on your physical and mental health, but you probably don’t know much about them, right?
It is easy to have hormones that are out of balance; fortunately there are a few steps you can take to regulate them everyday.
Protein: Having enough protein at every meal is one way to optimise hormone health, and it is recommended that women have 20-30grams of protein per meal. Not only does having an adequate amount of protein help with your hormones, but it also helps with weight loss, feeling full and helps with boosting the metabolism and fat burning. WINNING!
Eat Avocado: Today’s research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this fact? It takes exactly nine months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit – not just a pretty fruit, but a lovely symbol of fertility and gestation.
Exercise: Being active daily is so important when it comes to hormone health! It releases endorphins, lowers stress, improves circulation, digestive function, lymph system, energy levels and even helps to release stress.
Lay off the sugar and refined carbs: Having a diet high in sugar and refined carbs (like honey, white bread etc.) has been found to drive insulin resistance. Avoiding these foods on a daily basis will help regulate hormones and helps to avoid diabetes and obesity.
Stress less: Being highly strung or stressed out is terrible for our hormones. It is important to keep them low for optimum hormone heath. Try reducing your stress with one of our killer kick boxing classes, or sweating it out in a Tabata Threat Class! We know that we always feel much happier after a killer Box Fit Class! Another great way to reduce your stress is with a weekly yoga or meditation session.
Enjoy healthy fats: Try to introduce healthy fats into your diet. This will help to reduce insulin intake and will also help to reduce your appetite and cravings. We like to enjoy a healthy selection of sunflower seeds, avocado and olive oil in our diets everyday.
