09 Apr Strength training for fat loss
Too often, people think the only way to lose weight is to run for hours and hours on end on a treadmill.
Yes cardio is a great way to lose weight, but it is only part of a lethal combination of training styles to make you lean AF.
Getting lean and staying it, takes a healthy combination of both cardio and strength training to bring about manageable, healthy and sustainable results. Here are 3 reasons why strength training is great for fat loss and all round body wellness.
- Did you know that you burn fat with strength training well after the session? Yes, you read that right. Unlike cardio, where your fat burning stops when the session is over, when you are lifting heavy your body is going to burn calories throughout the day after. Don’t be disheartened if you don’t burn as many calories during the actual session, because your body is going to keep burning 24-48 hours after you finish.
- Strength training has a myriad of health benefits including increased coordination, strong ligaments and less likelihood of diabetes, heart disease and obesity.
- Strength training helps you build lean muscle, don’t worry you won’t be looking bulky after your sessions; rather throwing a few dumbbells around the gym will leave you looking lean and slender. What do Demi Lovato, Khloe Kardashian and Kate Upton all have in common? They have all worked for their killer curves with hard, heavy lifting sessions in the gym.
So how should you incorporate this training into your lifestyle?
We recommend 3 – 4, 45 minute to 1-hour sessions per week in conjunction with some cardiovascular training sessions to create a perfect weight loss plan.
